The
Vision Spotlight on Sister Betty Houston |
|
 |
The Vision spotlight shines brightly on
a woman born in Liberty Miss. She is
the mother of eight children, six sons
and two daughters. Ray, Ronnie, Eddie,
Nathan, Terry, Alton, Debra, and Leona.
She is none other than Sister Betty Jean
Robins Houston.
Her mother and father
Oscar and Rosie Lee Robins are deceased. |
|
Sister Betty Jean Houston was
baptized at Liberty Baptist Church at an
early age.
Her husband
Roosevelt is deceased.
She has two sisters and three brothers; Betsy, Darlene, Howard, Roy Lee,
and Paul. Both of her sisters are
members of Sweet Home Christian Center.
Sister Houston is the proud Grandmother of nineteen and Great Grandmother of
three.
Sister Houston has been a member of SHCC for over thirty years. She is a
dedicated member who helps in the
Fellowship Hall when needed and also
helped to build the new building SHCC
back in 1988.
Her favorite Bible Verse is 23rd Psalms because it tells us
how to live. Favorite colors are purple
and baby blue. Sister Houston loves
gardening, reading, baking, and cooking,
and watching the news.
Sister Betty Houston’s Birthday is August 12th. When asked to
tell something about herself she was a
little hesitant, some what modest. She
tries to be a good person, willing to
help others. She prays everyday
throughout the day, and God does keep
her strong. She is very proud and
thankful for her great Family.
Sister Betty Houston goes to work everyday and she feels wonderful most
of the time and knows she has a lot to
offer the world because God is so good
to her. With that in mind she is a good
mother, neighbor, sister and most of all
a Christian woman who always has food
and goodies for everyone.
Holidays will find all of her family at her house to hang out, eat and
just to have fun and fellowship with
each other. Sister Betty Houston and
her family enjoy fresh greens and corn
bread, with candid yams the most.
She loves her pastor and her SHCC family and is very proud that her
Grandchildren participate in EOP and a
daughter who is a counselor with the
group. She rejoices in the fact that we
here at SHCC praise and Worship God as
we see fit. |

Men’s conference 2008 |
|
 |
 |
|
Congratulations to
the men’s movement of SHCC On their
first ever Men’s conference, which was
held on June 18-20, 2008. It also
included a Health Fair in the park. The
anointed speaker Rev. Chester James Self
, was introduced by our very own Rev.
Gerald Wilson who has known the speaker
for many years. He was able to speak of
him in a personal way because of their
relationship. The conference had a
Multi – faceted theme. Tell him what
you want because we never Would have
made it without him.
The men want all to know that they are
a “Congregation of Baptized Believers”.
Rev. Self spoke from the manual for our
life The Bible, Jesus he said (and we
know) is the cornerstone of our lives.
He spoke of the only way to change the
life of a man is that he must change the
condition of his heart.
He taught of Gods Divine instructions
for husbands, and without instructions
men will die. The books of the Bible
Rev. Self referenced are 2nd
Timothy 3:6-17; Hosea 4:6; Proverbs
5:23. Isaiah 5:13. 1st Peter
3:7, Acts 17:11 1st
Corinthians 13, Psalms 119:9, Matthew
12:33, 1st John 1:9. The
men’s ministry wanted all true Believers
to know that if you tell God What you
want, All
your needs he will supply. We at SHCC
Thank God for inspiring the leaders of
the Movement and also because they were
obedient to Do what God expected them to
do- without questions.
